About us

Hi! We’re Jérôme and Nathalie.

The idea for Just Natural was born during the first COVID lockdown, not out of a big dream, but out of necessity. As a vegetarian, Nathalie struggled to find fresh vegetables, especially ones that weren’t drenched in pesticides. Like many Mauritians at the time, we started growing our own food in pots and corners of the yard. It was small, improvised, nothing fancy… but the feeling of eating something we had grown with our own hands was powerful. It hooked us.

That small experiment made us look at our island with different eyes. We realised how fragile Mauritius really is when it comes to food security, how dependent we are on imports, and how little control we have over what ends up on our plates. The more we grew, the more passionate we became. Not just about producing food, but about doing it in a way that heals the land instead of exhausting it.

So we took a leap.
We found abandoned sugarcane land in Bois Rouge and committed to turning it into a place that could feed us — and maybe a few others — in a healthier, more respectful way. Piece by piece, season after season, that land became our regenerative farm and eventually our home. What began as a garden became a farm. What began as a farm slowly became a farmstead.

Living here changed our lifestyle completely. We now live closer to the seasons, pay attention to the small things, waste less, and appreciate “enough” rather than constantly chasing “more.” Regenerative farming taught us patience and humility, and reminded us that if we take care of nature, she quietly takes care of us in return.

Today, we grow chemical-free vegetables, fruits, herbs, and eggs — mainly for ourselves — and we sell the surplus to the community. Our “we farm, you harvest” market gardens let you pick your own produce, reconnect with the land, and enjoy food that actually tastes like something.

If you’re looking for a place that’s honest, natural, and a little off the beaten track, you’re welcome here. Come visit. Wander around. Pick what you need. Breathe a little.

Just Natural isn’t just our farm.
It’s the way of life we chose and we’re happy to share it with you.
